Police: Teen driver leads officers on chase, hits cruiser

October 1, 2018

NEW CANAAN, Conn. (AP) — A 15-year-old Connecticut boy is facing charges for allegedly leading police on a high speed and crashing into a cruiser.

The Stamford teen was charged with reckless driving, operating without a license and attempted assault on a police officer.

Police say the chase started around 5 p.m. Friday after an officer tried to stop a vehicle in New Canaan for a defective brake light.

Authorities say the teen nearly hit an officer on foot and hit the officer’s patrol vehicle before crashing into a utility pole at a middle school.

Two other occupants in the car fled on foot.

The teen driver’s name is being withheld due to his age.
