Fisher-Gentry Eye Care welcomes doctor

Dr. Gregory Macagba joined Fisher-Gentry Eye Care, 501 S. Locust St. in Manteno, having recently earned his doctor of optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry in May.

He is board certified by the National Board of Examiners in optometry. Macagba was born and raised in Bourbonnais, and he comes from a family of musicians and doctors who also practice in the area.

Macagba attended Maternity BVM grade school and Bishop McNamara Catholic High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in community health with a minor in chemistry.

While attending ICO, he completed externships in Chicago, Pittsburgh and Austin, Texas, as well as Wenzhou, China. While in China, he had the opportunity to train with several specialists in retina and refractive surgery at one of China’s top medical centers, Wenzhou Medical College Eye Hospital.

Sincerely Salli’s to host grand opening

Sincerely Salli’s, a collectibles and vintage antique shop, will have its grand opening from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 19.

Sincerely Salli’s is at 118 N. Water St. in the former home of Kavenenys Drug and Soda store in Wilmington.

“We’re going to have refreshments; we’re going to have raffles and a silent auction,” said Salli Carmichael, the shop’s owner.

The store has been open in Wilmington off and on since June 2 after having moved from 47 W. Second St. in Manteno at the end of May.

“It’s a better opportunity for an antique spot,” said Carmichael, who lives in Shorewood. “I was just going to close, but this opportunity opened up, and I couldn’t pass it up.”

Sincerely Salli’s will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 708-715-4010.
