SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Ruthie Bolton scored 14 of her 21 points in the second half Tuesday night, leading the Sacramento Monarchs to a 74-65 victory over the Indiana Fever.

The Monarchs (9-16), who closed on an 11-2 run, won their fifth straight and seventh in nine games.

Tamika Catchings had 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists for Indiana (10-15), which lost its second straight game and is fighting for the fourth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference.

Bolton made a 3-pointer with 4:24 remaining, putting the Monarchs ahead for good at 66-63. Yolanda Griffith followed with consecutive baskets, the second one on a rebound, giving Sacramento a 70-63 lead with 56 seconds left.

Tangela Smith scored 16 points for Sacramento, Kedra Holland-Corn had 15, and Ticha Penicheiro added 13 assists.

Olympia Scott-Richardson had 15 points and eight rebounds before fouling out. Nikki McCray added 10 points for the Fever.

Trailing 36-35 at intermission, Indiana scored the first eight points of the second half. Despite going nearly seven minutes without a second-half rebound, the Monarchs tied it 49-49 on a three-point play by Yolanda Griffith.
