2 killed after SUV strikes motorcycle in SE Michigan
FRENCHTOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) — A motorcycle rider and his passenger were killed in southeast Michigan after colliding with an SUV.
The Monroe County Sheriff’s office says 33-year-old William C. Carpenter was on a Harley-Davidson when the driver of a Buick Rendezvous headed the opposite direction turned in front of him.
Carpenter, of Monroe, Michigan, died at the scene. His passenger, 28-year-old Mikyla J. Allen, also from Monroe, was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.
Police say the driver of the SUV was a 33-year-old woman from Newport, Michigan, who was uninjured in the Saturday evening crash.
Police say neither alcohol, nor speed appear to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.
