NEW HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — Police say a New Hampshire man is facing multiple charges after operating an all-terrain vehicle on a highway for at least 15 miles.

State police received calls on Friday about an ATV travelling erratically on Interstate 393 west and on Interstate 93 north. WMUR-TV reports that a trooper tried to stop the ATV on 93 near the Tilton exit but the driver kept going.

Police say they knew the ATV would soon run out of gas. Troopers found the vehicle about 15 miles away at Exit 23 in New Hampton, where the 19-year-old driver, Derek Meyer of Northwood, was taken into custody.

He's facing charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated, reckless operation and disobeying a police officer. It was not immediately known if he's being represented by an attorney.
