Kings’ Murray Hurt in Car Accident
LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Los Angeles Kings coach Andy Murray broke four ribs and injured a shoulder when his truck slid off an icy Wisconsin highway early Friday.
The 50-year-old Murray was treated at a hospital in Sparta, Wis., and was expected to be released to return to his home in Fairbault, Minn., for further evaluation, the Kings said.
Murray’s truck hit a sheet of ice about 6 a.m., spun out, went down an embankment, and rolled about 300 feet off the highway, the team said. He left home about 4 a.m. for his son’s high school hockey game five hours later in Madison, Wis..
Murray flew to Minnesota after Wednesday night’s Kings-Phoenix Coyotes game in Los Angeles. The Kings do not practice until Feb. 21 and do not play until Feb. 26 at Columbus due to the break in the NHL schedule for the Olympics.
