PRAGUE (AP) — Dusan Uhrin has been named coach of Czech champion Viktoria Plzen following Pavel Vrba’s move to take over the national team.
Plzen says Uhrin has been given a 2½-year contract. The 46-year-old Uhrin was previously in charge of clubs in the Czech Republic, Romania and Cyprus.
Earlier this month, Uhrin cut short his contract at Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi to be able to join Plzen.
His first competitive match will be a Europa League encounter with Shakhtar Donetsk on Feb. 20.
Uhrin’s father, also named Dusan, led the Czech national team to the 1996 European Championship final.
