Small Fire Reported at Dracut’s Englesby School
DRACUT -- A small fire in a third-grade classroom was reported Wednesday morning at Dracut’s Englesby Elementary School.
“Everyone was evacuated safely and the children have walked across to Dracut High where they are being supported by the administration, faculty, and staff of both schools,” a post on Dracut Public Schools’ Facebook page read Wednesday morning. “The fire was extinguished quickly. We are communicating with the Dracut Fire Department regarding how long children may need to remain at Dracut High.”
Messages were left Wednesday for Superintendent of Schools Steven Stone and Fire Chief David Brouillette.
Shortly after noon Wednesday, an update on the school district’s Facebook provided more details on the incident.
“The matter is still under investigation. The Dracut Fire Department reports that it was a small electrical fire and it not considered suspicious. There was very little damage to the room,” the post read. “The administration, faculty and staff of Englesby and Dracut High School have been outstanding in their support of the students.”
