Relay for Life holding planning meeting

The first regular team captain and committee meeting for the 2019 Gage County Relay for Life will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Centenary United Methodist Church basement, Beatrice.

The American Cancer Society event is held the last Saturday of April. This year it is scheduled for Saturday, April 27, 4 p.m.-11 p.m., at the Gage County Fairgrounds in Beatrice.

The remaining meetings are March 5 and April 2. Bank night for donations will be April 23.

A breakfast kickoff was held Jan. 19 at Valentino’s. Corinne Koch, team lead for the event, said teams and individuals are encouraged to join the fight. Online registrations are encouraged at www.relayforlife.org/gagecone. Donations can also be made on that site. The deadline for registering on paper forms and to receive a participant T-shirt is March 18.

Zach Coffin of Harman-Wright Mortuary will again update the Relay video tribute honoring those who have battled cancer. The video will play during the Relay for Life event. To submit information, contact him at 402-223-2341. The deadline is April 15.

The 2019 Relay for Life committee includes: Corinne Koch, people/team lead; Kari Jobman, sponsorship lead; Alisa Pesek, experience lead; Marian DeBuhr and Diana Blythe, survivor co-caregiver lead; Mary Wieters, publicity chair; Verdella Vetrovsky, accounting chair; Brian Saathoff, logistics chair; Kathy Steinkamp, community outreach; SuAnn Saathoff, social media coordinator. Any civic group or business interested in having an ACS Relay speaker for their meeting may contact Kathy Steinkamp at 402-228-1844.

BCH will provide a meal for cancer survivors and a guest on April 27 at 5 p.m. following the 4 p.m. survivor lap. For information, contact Marian DeBuhr at 402-520-2350.
