Pacific 79, UC Santa Barbara 72

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (AP) _ Monty Owens scored six of his 10 points in the final 2:46 of play Saturday night to lead Pacific to a 79-72 victory over UC Santa Barbara.

UCSB held a 67-65 lead before Corey Anders made a layup to tie the game with 4:34 remaining. That triggered a 14-5 run by the Tigers to finish the game.

Rayne Mahaffey made a 3-point shot with 3:49 left to make it 70-67 and put the Tigers ahead for good. Owens then scored six of his team’s final nine points.

Adam Jacobsen led Pacific (12-11, 9-7 Big West) with 17 points and five assists. Mahaffey and reserve Charles Jones added 13 points each and Michael Olowokandi had 11 for the Tigers.

Mark Flick led UCSB (11-13, 8-9) with 26 points and 13 rebounds. Kealon Wallace had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Lelan McDougal also had 14 points for the Gauchos, who blew a 62-54 lead in losing to San Jose State 69-66 on Thursday night.

The Tigers made 29 of their 56 field goal attempts (51.8 percent) to 24-of-58 for UCSB (41.4 percent) and outrebounded the Gauchos 39-32.
