Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Famer Hospitalized
NEW YORK (AP) _ Former major league infielder Pete Coscarart was in the intensive cardiac care unit at Beekman Downtown Hospital Wednesday after suffering a heart attack following his induction into the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame. The hospital did not list his condition.
Coscarart, 82, was stricken Monday night at the Downtown Athletic Club, where he was staying. He was honored the day before with Rocky Bridges, Spider Jorgensen and the family of Johnny Fredericks, all former Dodgers.
Coscarart played for the Dodgers from 1938 to 1941 and then for Pittsburgh from 1942-46. He batted .243 in nine major league seasons.
