Lowell Tops Dracut, Remains on Roll

Izzy Bunce collected 3 aces and 15 assists to help Lowell High post its third girls volleyball victory of the week, a 3-0 win over Merrimack Valley Conference rival Dracut on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Acton-Boxboro topped Westford Academy, 3-1.

Dai Thawngmung added 12 kills and 14 digs for Lowell (6-8).

The Red Raiders also received fine play from Keara Page, who had 5 kills, 3 aces and 9 digs, as well as from Sofia Cruz (7 kills, 3 blocks) and Izzy Soeun (24 digs) during the road victory.

It was tight all the way but the undefeated Colonials finally came away with another victory in Dual County League action.

Match scores were 28-26 A-B, 25-17 A-B, 25-23 Westford, and 26-24 A-B.

Elise Sepe had 11 kills and Lexi Wilson 9 for the Grey Ghosts (5-5), who travel to Newton South on Tuesday.

The Crusaders won on the road thanks in part to terrific play from Lily Blodgett, who had 17 kills and 5 blocks.

Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 23-25, 19-25, 15-10.

Carolyn Mullins and Hannah Wynn each had 7 kills. Lauren Kenney had 20 assists, Katie Eberhardt earned 15 assists and Peter White contributed 24 digs for G-D.

Essex Tech 3

Despite 24 digs and 9 service points from Jackie Denisco, the Lancers fell 25-18, 25-10, 25-18.

Also playing well for the Academy of Notre Dame were Angela Tarantino with 2 kills, Elena Murguia with 3 assists, Christina Tsillas with 2 blocks and Maddie Walent with 2 aces.
