MCC OKs revision of faculty salary schedule

September 23, 2018

The Mohave Community College governing board unanimously voted to revise its faculty salary schedule for the 2018-2019 fiscal year.

According to board documents, the measure was first discussed in May when Jennifer Dixon, the college’s chief student services officer, reported that the college’s lock-step schedule prevented them from being competitive, attracting candidates and retaining instructors.

Under the new faculty salary schedule:

• Associate faculty could earn $725 per load hour with a minimum enrollment of nine students

• Bachelor’s degree holders could earn a minimum of $38,480, new hire maximum of $43,098 and maximum of $55,565.

• Master’s degree holders could earn a minimum of $42,864, new hire maximum of $48,008 and maximum of $68,881.

• Master’s degree holders +15 could earn a minimum of $44,150, new hire maximum of $49,448 and maximum of $76,179.

• Master’s degree holders +30 could earn a minimum of $45,475, new hire maximum of $50,932 and maximum of $78,464.

• Master’s degree holders +45 could earn a minimum of $46,839, new hire maximum of $52,460 and maximum of $80,817.

• Master’s degree holders +60 could earn a minimum of $48,244, new hire maximum of $54,033 and maximum of $83,243.

• Doctorate degree holders could earn a minimum of $49,691, new hire maximum of $55,654 and maximum of $87,798.

“The new resident faculty salary schedule will help ensure the college remains in line with average faculty salaries at Arizona community colleges,” wrote James Jarman, spokesman for the college, in an email.
