McAndrew To Run For City Council

January 31, 2019

SCRANTON — Scranton School Director Mark McAndrew said Wednesday he plans to run for Scranton City Council. Calling himself “an independent voice” who advocates transparency as a school director, McAndrew, a Democrat, said he wants to bring that focus to city government. McAndrew said he will have a kickoff rally Feb. 28. He is one of four Democrats who have announced council candidacies. The others are incumbent Councilman Tim Perry and newcomers Jessica Rothchild and Andy Chomko. The primary election is May 21; the general election is Nov. 5. Two of the council’s five seats are up for election. — BORYS KRAWCZENIUK
