BOSTON -- The Westford Academy girls swimming and diving team won the Division 1 state championship at Boston University on Saturday by a wide margin with 439.5 points.

This is the 7th state title in the last 8 years for the Grey Ghosts (2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019). Westford Academy went 9-0 this season en route to capturing the Dual County League championship and the North Sectional championship.

The senior class rounded out an undefeated four years, never having lost in either a dual meet or a championship meet. The last loss for the program was back in 2015 against Weston.

Saturday’s win was fueled by a victory in each of the three relays, including a meet-record and school-record in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Michaela Martin, senior Anika Svoboda and senior Ada Ferrick were each a part of two winning relays.

Although Westford did not have any individual winners, Julia Tracanna (50 freestyle), Michaela Martin (100 butterfly), Amy Jiang (100 backstroke) and Samantha Blanc (diving) were each runner-up in their individual events.

Madison Leong added a 3rd-place finish in the 200 individual medley.
