Deputies shot driver who jumped from moving car with gun
CENTER POINT, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say deputies fired at a man in Alabama who jumped out of a car he was driving with a gun without stopping the vehicle.
Jefferson County Sheriff’s Capt. David Agee said deputies were trying to pull the man over for a traffic violation near Center Point around 9:45 a.m. Sunday when he did not stop.
Agee told Al.com that the driver turned into an apartment complex. As his vehicle approached a dead end, he jumped out without parking.
Agee says the man had a gun and refused to drop it before deputies fired, wounding him. He was taken to the hospital and his condition wasn’t known. His name hasn’t been released.
Agee says the vehicle crashed into the front porch of an apartment, but no one else was injured.
