Antero Resources: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

DENVER (AP) _ Antero Resources Corp. (AR) on Wednesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $121.5 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

The Denver-based company said it had a loss of 39 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs and stock option expense, came to 46 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of nine analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 38 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas producer posted revenue of $1.05 billion in the period. Its adjusted revenue was $1.24 billion, falling short of Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.26 billion.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $397.5 million, or $1.26 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $4.45 billion.

Antero Resources shares have decreased slightly more than 3 percent since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $9.07, a fall of 48 percent in the last 12 months.
