Old Dominion 83, Chaminade 56

HONOLULU (AP) _ Freshman Ricardo Leonard scored 21 points and Anthony Carver pitched in with 16 as Old Dominion routed Chaminade 83-56 Saturday in a consolation game at the Chaminade Christmas Classic.

The Monarchs, 4-2, raced to a 16-3 lead at the start of the game, fueled by Carver’s seven points.

Chaminade, 4-8, scored its second basket of the game when James Lukas hit a jump shot with 12:47 left in the half.

Old Dominion had a 40-23 halftime lead, with the help of 17 Chaminade turnovers.

Midway through the second half, Chaminade pulled within 11 points, 48-37, on Rod McCray’s jump shot. That was the closest the Silverswords would get as Old Dominion came back with a 14-3 run, including seven straight points by Garrick Davis.

Kenroy James led the Silverswords with 10 points.

Old Dominion will play Miami, Fla., Sunday for fifth place after Chaminade takes on Eastern Illinois for seventh.
