‘Rhythm on the Rock’ comes to Watertown

Staff WriterMay 24, 2019

The Watertown Main Street Program announced a new outdoor music series coming to downtown Watertown this summer that will feature a variety of local musicians and highlight the Rock River.

The “Rhythm on the Rock” concerts will take place from 6:30-8 p.m. on the first and third Wednesdays in June, July and August and will be held along the Riverwalk, on the lawn between the Rock River and the Watertown Senior and Community Center, located at the corner of First and Milwaukee streets.

There will be no outdoor seating provided, so attendees should bring their own blankets or lawn chairs for seating. The lawn may be accessed via the Riverwalk entrance near the Milwaukee Street bridge or through the main entrance of the senior center. Parking is available in the senior center lot. In case of inclement weather, the concert will relocate indoors to the senior center’s lower level Terrace Room. Attendees are welcome to bring food and beverages to enjoy during the concerts, but alcohol is prohibited.

The concert lineup for the inaugural “Rhythm on the Rock” series is as follows: Horse (Bill Bossingham) on June 5; Mare Edstrom and Kenn Fox on June 19; Paradocs (Thom McGorey and Wade Woelfle) on July 3; Marcus Klein on July 17; David Mazzie on Aug. 7; and Silken Amelia on Aug.21.

There is no cost to attend the concerts, but donations will be accepted to help offset the costs of the series. The Main Street Program wishes to raise $1,000 from the community through donations from individuals and local businesses. Anyone wishing to sponsor the entire series or an individual concert evening at $165 each can contact the Watertown Main Street Program.
