Legendary coach Lou Holtz to speak at Sinai Forum

November 28, 2018

WESTVILLE — The Purdue University Northwest Sinai Forum concludes its 2018 season with Lou Holtz, the legendary college football coach who led Notre Dame to a national championship.

The program will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Dworkin Student Services and Activities Complex at 1401 S. U.S. 421 on the Westville Campus. Doors open at 3 p.m.

“Hosting prominent speakers has been the cornerstone of the Sinai Forum’s renowned 65-year history,” executive director Leslie Plesac said. “The Forum is designed to give audiences a unique opportunity to hear noted speakers and pose questions in a town-hall style format.

“Lou Holtz is a dynamic coach that inspires the best in people,” Plesac said. “We’re excited to welcome him back to Indiana to have his energy and enthusiasm fill The Forum stage.”

Holtz established himself as one of the most successful college football coaches of all time. Twenty-six seasons as a collegiate coach earned Holtz a sterling reputation for turning pretenders into contenders. He is known for taking football programs and elevating them to the top 20; but nowhere did he do so as impressively than at Notre Dame.

And for the last several years, Holtz has been considered among the greatest motivational speaker in the nation, Plesac said. He speaks on overcoming seemingly impossible challenges by setting goals and working to achieve them.

Holtz has also authored three New York Times best-selling books. “The Fighting Spirit” chronicled Notre Dame’s 1988 championship season; and “Winning Everyday: A Game Plan for Success” has been published in several languages. His last book, “Wins, Losses and Lessons”, is an autobiography of his life and the lessons he’s learned.

Students showing a valid high school or university I.D. may attend at no cost.

The season sponsors are Urschel Laboratories, Times Media, Blue Chip Casino, Hotel & Spa, The Bankoff Family, the John W. Anderson Foundation, Horizon Bank, The La Porte County Herald-Argus and The News-Dispatch.

Patron-level ticket holders are welcome to attend a pre-program speaker reception.
