Umpqua beats North Idaho 83-72 in OT, remains undefeated

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — The second-ranked Umpqua Community College women’s basketball team remained unbeaten with an 83-72 overtime victory over No. 6 North Idaho on Sunday night in a crossover tournament at North Idaho College.

Taylor Stricklin, a former Sutherlin High standout, scored a career-high 35 points for the Riverhawks (8-0), who outscored North Idaho 18-6 in the extra session. Stricklin was 11 of 12 from the free-throw line, grabbed five rebounds, made four assists and had three steals.

Douglas High product Darian Mitchell added a double-double for UCC with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Cielo Gonzalez chipped in 11 points.

Sydnie Peterson led the Cardinals (5-2) with 20 points, sinking six 3-pointers. North Idaho shot .408 from the field and was outrebounded 50-32.
