National anthem auditions in Somerset postponed

January 17, 2019

This Saturday’s Altoona Curve national anthem auditions at the Somerset County Courthouse have been postponed because of a substantial winter storm that is forecast to move through West Central Pennsylvania over the weekend.

The Somerset auditions will now be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, at the originally scheduled location, the courthouse. Tryouts will take place from 10 a.m. through noon, with registration beginning at 9:30 a.m.

It is the only event being postponed as part of the Fire & Ice Festival, according to Regina Coughenour, organizer.

“The weather is absolutely perfect for Fire and Ice, the hotels are booked, and all of our planned events will go on as planned,” she said.

Singing tryouts in Altoona will take place, as scheduled, on Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Logan Valley Mall. Registration for the event will open at 9:30 a.m. and the auditions will begin at 10 a.m. and run until noon.
