Indiana St. 47, St. Joseph’s 14
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) _ Seven different players scored for Indiana State as the Sycamores beat St. Joseph’s 47-14 Saturday.
Scott Collins began the scoring for Indiana State (1-2) with a 25-yard field goal. From there, Goldie Ashford scored on a 1-yard run, Kevin Cox threw a 7-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Tubbs, Matt Gajewski ran in a 1-yard score, Larry Scally returned a punt 86 yards and Collins kicked his second field goal to give the Sycamores a 27-14 lead at halftime.
The scoring continued in the second half with Sha’ Caldwell scoring on an 18-yard run, Cox throwing a 20-yard touchdown pass to Daniel Cheatham and Melvin Williams scoring on a 1-yard run.
Collins lead the scoring with field goals of 27 and 25 yards and five extra points. Cox finished the game with two touchdowns and 156 yards through the air, while Caldwell led the Sycamores with 58 yards on 12 carries.
Offensively, nine Indiana State runners combined for 294 yards rushing.
St. Joseph’s (1-1) scores came on a 1-yard Goldie Ashford touchdown run and a 76-yard touchdown pass from Brian Outlaw to Larry Smith. Outlaw was just 3 for 10 for 97 yards and two interceptions.
