Firefighters’ boot drive benefits City Mission children

November 29, 2018

HUNTINGTON - Cold temperatures and light snow did not deter Huntington Fire Department firefighters from raising money for a good cause Wednesday. They collected money for their annual Christmas Boot Drive, which buys toys, clothes and other gifts for children at the City Mission.

City Mission is Huntington’s only full-

service shelter for individuals and families who are homeless or low-income. The shelter sees an average of 143 people every day, including about 40 children.

Firefighters collected money along several city streets, including 5th Avenue, 9th Street and the intersection of 3rd Avenue and 20th Street.
