MERIBEL, France (AP) _ Switzerland earned the chance to play for ninth place in the Olympic hockey tournament Wednesday with a 7-2 victory over Poland.

Switzerland (2-4) will play Norway (1-5) on Friday in the game that precedes the medal-round semifinals.

Poland (0-6) meets Italy (1-5) in the 11th-place game on Thursday. The Poles, the only winless team in the tournament, have been outscored 37-6 and haven't scored more than two goals in any game.

Alfred Luthi and Patrice Brasey scored with a 38-second span in the second to give Switzerland a 3-0 lead. After Poland cut its deficit to one goal, the Swiss broke it open on third-period goals by Sven Leuenberger, Mario Rottaris, Samuel Balmer and Mario Brodmann.
