August 8, 2018

BLACK DIAMOND, Wash. (AP) — A teenage boy was hospitalized after suffering injuries from jumping off a cliff into the Green River, according to Puget Sound Fire.

KOMO-TV reports that firefighters from multiple agencies were called to an area along the Green River, near the Green River Gorge Resort in Enumclaw, around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Rescuers said the boy suffered serious injuries after hitting several large rocks that line the river.

The King County Sheriff’s Guardian 2 helicopter had to lower a basket down and hoist the boy up from the river bank.

The boy was then airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. No word yet on his condition.
