Volunteers sought for nonprofit’s planting efforts

May 17, 2019

HUNTINGTON — Huntington in Bloom, a nonprofit group of volunteers responsible for making Huntington pop with a variety of trees, decorations and hundreds of brightly colored flowers to catch people’s attention, is once again preparing for summer.

Planting of the colorful flowerpots that soon will grace the downtown streets began Tuesday and will continue this evening. This year’s color theme is yellow, white, purple and hot pink.

Volunteers are needed at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 16, to begin ground plantings and the unveiling of large pots, hanging baskets and several window boxes. They are asked to meet at the Pullman Square Garage on 10th Street before spreading out around town.
