Teen suspect in Kentucky school shooting due in court
BENTON, Ky. (AP) — A Kentucky teenager facing two murder charges in a school shooting is due in court for a hearing.
Kentucky State Police say that because the boy is a juvenile, the hearing scheduled for Friday is closed to the public. Earlier this week, a grand jury met to decide if the boy should face charges as an adult.
Marshall County Commonwealth’s Attorney Mark Blankenship told The West Kentucky Star that the arraignment could be postponed if attorneys for the teen want to have his mental competency evaluated. If the hearing is delayed, state police spokesman Jody Cash says no information on the case will be released.
On Thursday, the small town of Benton where the Jane. 23 shootings occurred held a vigil for the victims of the Florida school shooting that killed 17.
