North Platte officer hospitalized after fight with suspect
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (AP) — A North Platte police officer has been hospitalized following a fight with a suspect, who has been charged with attempted murder in the case.
Radio station KRVN reports that 27-year-old Walterio Seabrooks is being held on $1 million bail in Lincoln County. He’s charged with attempted second-degree murder and resisting arrest.
Police say 23-year-old Officer Alexander Parker encountered Seabrooks shortly after 12 a.m. Thursday while responding to a report of a home break-in. Police say a fight ensued when Parker tried to detain Seabrooks, and that Seabrooks tried several times to take Parker’s gun from its holster.
After Seabrooks was subdued, Parker was taken to a North Platte hospital, where he remained Thursday afternoon. Police have not detailed the extent of the officer’s injuries, but say they are not life-threatening.
