Dow Gains 13 in Early Trading

June 9, 1998

NEW YORK (AP) _ Stock prices are little changed in moderate trading. The Dow Jones industrial average is up 13 points in today’s early going. Gainers and losers are evenly split on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Nasdaq Composite Index has gained a point and the Standard & Poor’s 500 Stock Index is ahead a fraction.

Wall Street will try to extend its current rally to a fourth straight day today.

The Dow Jones industrial average has added about 265 points the past three sessions.

But some analysts are looking for a flat session today.

For one thing, bond prices are providing little support, as finance officials from the Group of Seven nations meet to discuss the strong dollar and the weak Japanese economy.

And in this country, Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan is due to appear before Congress tomorrow.
