May 22. 9:30 a.m. ALABAMA STATE BAR ADMISSION CEREMONY — The Alabama State Bar will hold its Spring Admission Ceremony at the Montgomery Performing Arts Center. The ceremony is facilitated by the Young Lawyers Section of the Alabama State Bar, and will feature prominent Alabama lawyers and judges including Alabama State Bar President Anthony A. Joseph, United States Magistrate Judge T. Michael Putnam and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Alabama Roy S. Moore. The bar will admit 123 new members during the ceremony.

May 22. 10 a.m. ID THEFT PRESS CONFERENCE — The United States Attorney s Office and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Unit will hold a press conference to announce indictments and arrests connected with a large tax fraud/identity theft case in the Middle District of Alabama.

May 22. 11:30 a.m. CBC-POULTRY PLANT CONFERENCE CALL — The Congressional Black Conference is holding a confeence call to express concerns with the USDA looking to increase poultry plant line speeds from 140 to 175 birds per minute. CBC and Southern Poverty Law Center officials say the speeds could endanger workers and food safety. A former Mississippi poultry plant worker is expected to also speak during the call.
