Hayne Avenue work in Aiken should be complete come October
Infrastructure rehabilitation in downtown Aiken continues.
The latest round of road and line work, now in the Hayne Avenue area, is expected to be complete around Oct. 1, according to Tim O’Briant, a spokesperson for the city.
The work there – near the city’s finance building and Pendleton Street – is, essentially, an extension of earlier work around Park Avenue.
The city has been targeting downtown water and sewer lines for upgrades for awhile now.
The finance building drive-through, which residents often use to pay bills, will be closed for the duration of the Hayne Avenue work, O’Briant said.
Once Hayne Avenue upgrades are complete, the work will shift to the northbound side of Laurens Street between Park and Richland avenues, according to O’Briant.
