SAPD: Woman fatally shot after drawing weapon on officer
A woman was killed after she drew an Uzi on a San Antonio police sergeant Wednesday afternoon at a North Side shopping center, officials said.
The woman, 23, was reportedly acting strange at about 5:15 p.m. in the parking lot of Huebner Commons at Vance Jackson and Huebner Road, police said.
SAPD Chief William McManus said a sergeant who was nearby approached the woman.
“He gave her a command and she drew the weapon,” McManus said.
The woman had just pulled the gun from behind her back when the officer fired several shots, investigators said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The sergeant, a 23-year-veteran of the force, is being placed on administrative duty.
