State police: 1 person dead after vehicle drives into pond
EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police say the person pulled from a vehicle submerged eight feet deep in an East Longmeadow pond has died.
Police and firefighters responded to Heritage Park at about 3 a.m. Tuesday for reports of a vehicle that had driven into a pond.
The occupant was pulled from the vehicle by firefighters and taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. The state police Underwater Recovery Unit responded to help recover the vehicle from the water.
No information about the vehicle’s occupant has been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
