Police: Woman now wanted for murder in boyfriend’s death
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A woman who told police that her boyfriend shot himself is now wanted for his murder.
Sgt. Roderick Holmes said Friday that police have charged 28-year-old Jakia Thomas with murder and are looking for her to arrest her.
Thomas originally told police that her boyfriend, 32-year-old Demarcus Harris, shot himself in December. Harris later died in a hospital.
Holmes, though, says police later concluded that Thomas had shot Harris. She was charged with domestic aggravated assault and released on $3,500 bail. Now police want to re-arrest her and take her to court to face the upgraded murder charge.
This story has been corrected to show the last name of the dead mean is Harris, not Henry.
