Guilty plea made in killing of Indianapolis store clerk
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A plea agreement calls for a man to face a 52-year prison sentence for the fatal shooting of an Indianapolis convenience store clerk during a robbery.
The Marion County prosecutor’s office says Desi Thomas Jr. pleaded guilty Monday to murder for the June 2014 shooting of 45-year-old Harry Briggs. Thomas is scheduled to be sentenced later this month.
Authorities say Briggs was working at Joe’s Junction convenience store on the city’s southwest side when the nighttime robbery happened. Thomas was accused of pointing a gun at Briggs and another store employee and demanding money before firing three shots at Briggs. Security camera video showed Thomas skipping away from the store after the shooting.
