Gerald Micek, 84, of Columbus, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Brookestone Acres in Columbus.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at St. Isidore Catholic Church and will be followed by a vigil at 7:30 p.m., also on Friday, Aug. 31, 2018, at St Isidore Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 1, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus. Interment will take place Saturday, Sept. 1, at All Saints Cemetery in Columbus with Military Honors by Hartman Post #84 and the American Legion Guard.

Gerald Micek was born Nov. 15, 1933, in Genoa, Nebraska to Charles and Bernice (Shemek) Micek. He grew up on the farm North east of Genoa and graduated from Genoa High School. Gerald entered the U.S. Army, where he served from 1955-1957. He returned to Platte County and was united in marriage to Lois Haschke on November 20, 1957 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. Gerald farmed between Genoa and Monroe. Church was big part of Gerald’s life. He also loved spending time with family and being outdoors on the land. After retiring from the farm, Gerald and Lois moved to Columbus where he was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, participated in Perpetual Adoration, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by wife, Lois Micek of Columbus; sons Glen (Annette) Micek of Monroe, Alan (Lori) Micek of Columbus and Delvin (Debbie) Micek of Columbus; daughters Darlene (Tim) Ott of Columbus; Lynn (John) Siefken of Lake Stevens, Washington, Mary (Dan) Blocker of Lake Stevens, Washington; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and brother, Milton Micek of Genoa.

He is preceded in death by parents Charles and Bernice Micek; and sister-in-law Margie Micek.We will remember him as a loving, prayerful, humble, and hardworking man who devoted his life to his family.
