Woman bitten by animal after coyote nips teen in nearby town

April 9, 2019

BRAINTREE, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts woman has been bitten by a wild animal about a month after a 16-year-old girl in a nearby town was bitten by a coyote.

The Patriot Ledger reports that Braintree resident Jean France says she was bitten on her left ankle by either a fox or a coyote while walking her dog before noon Saturday.

Police couldn’t locate the animal or confirm the species.

France was taken to the hospital and is receiving treatment for rabies as a precaution.

In early March, a 16-year-old girl from Norwell received minor injuries after being bitten by a coyote outside her home. The animal ran into the woods and police had said they could not locate it.
