ATLANTA (AP) _ New York Mets pitcher Pedro Astacio was ejected from Tuesday night's game against the Braves after giving up four homers and hitting Gary Sheffield with a pitch.

After being handed a 5-0 lead, Astacio surrendered a homer to Andruw Jones in the second, then three more homers in the fourth as the Braves rallied to tie the game at 6.

Julio Franco led off the fifth with a single, then Astacio hit Sheffield in the left arm with a fastball. Plate umpire Tony Randazzo immediately threw Astacio out of the game.

Sheffield glared at the pitcher but didn't make a move toward the mound.

The Braves went on to score six runs in the fifth, taking a 12-6 lead.

Jones, Mark DeRosa and Henry Blanco homered in the fourth against Astacio, who has given up 26 homers this season _ the fourth-highest total in the NL.

Astacio became the second pitcher in three games to be ejected for throwing at the Braves. Montreal's Tomo Ohka was tossed Saturday for hitting Jones in the head after Jones homered twice.
