Twins Cut Loose Ojeda

December 21, 2003

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) _ The Minnesota Twins didn’t offer a contract to infielder Augie Ojeda on Saturday, making him a free agent.

Minnesota is negotiating with Ojeda and hopes to re-sign him by Monday.

Ojeda was claimed off waivers in November from the Chicago Cubs. He hit .120 in 25 at-bats with the Cubs in 2003. In 148 career games with the Cubs over the past four seasons, Ojeda batted .196. He’ll get a chance to land a spot as a utility man on the Twins’ roster this year.
