Shelton Cheer Squads Capture National Titles
SHELTON — Three Shelton Youth Cheer squads took National Titles at The 2018 American Youth Cheerleading National Competition held at The Silver Spurs Arena in Kissimmee, Florida on December 9, 2018.
The teams competed over a two day period for a championship title as well as the coveted National Championship jacket. Each year, more than 200 teams compete.
All three teams qualified for this event by placing first in a regional competition held in November in Manchester, New Hampshire.
The three winning Shelton teams all went undefeated through the season. The include:
“Shelton D-8 Large White,” comprised of 22 six to eight year olds and coached by Angie DeWitt and Erin Boyle.
“Shelton D-10 Large White,” made up of 19 eight to ten year olds and coached by Kim DeJesus and Courtney Cole.
“Shelton D-14 Large Blue,” which is made up of 30 11-13 year olds and coached by Julie Bibby and Patti Prodan.
