Jacksonville officer fatally shoots knife-wielding man
JACKSONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Authorities in central Arkansas say a police officer fatally shot a man who was holding a knife to another man’s throat.
The Jacksonville Police Department says officers responded late Saturday to a report of an aggravated assault. Authorities say that once there, police found a man who had been stabbed and another man who was on top of him with a knife to his throat.
The police department said in a press release that officers ordered the man to drop the knife and one officer opened fire when he refused to do so. Police say the man was struck in the shoulder and back and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital, and his condition wasn’t immediately available.
