Retired Greenwich police captain dies at 83

GREENWICH — Retired Greenwich Police Capt. Albert Barclay died earlier this week, according to a Facebook post from the police department.

Barclay died on May 13 at the age of 83.

Barclay served as a police officer to the town of Greenwich from 1957 to 1986. During his career, he rose through the ranks to captain, where he commanded ever major division in the department.

The police department said Barclay’s personnel file “is filed with commendations and letters of appreciation from the department and the community.”

“We join all the members of the Greenwich Police Department in extending our sincere sympathy to the Barclay family,” Greenwich police said.
