SEATTLE (AP) _ Todd MacCulloch scored 20 points and put No. 14 Washington ahead for good in a 70-63 victory over North Carolina-Wilmington on Monday night.

Chris Walcott hit three free throws in the final minute to help clinch the win for Washington. Deon Luton scored 17 points and MacCulloch grabbed 12 rebounds for the Huskies.

Stan Simmons scored 15 points and Oleg Kojenets added 10 for North Carolina-Wilmington.

There were six lead changes and two ties in the second half before MacCulloch’s free throw with 10:38 left put the Huskies ahead to stay.

Simmons’ 10-footer with 2:51 left brought the Seahawks within two, but they would get no closer in the first meeting between the two schools.

MacCulloch, the NCAA leader in field-goal accuracy the past two seasons, went 3-for-6 from the field and 14-of-18 from the free throw line.

Washington shot only 37.5 percent from the field, but had a huge advantage at the free-throw line. The Huskies hit 30 of 41 free throws, compared to 11-of-18 for the Seahawks.

Neither team led by more than six points in the first half, which ended with Washington leading 33-32.
