Iowa man charged with meth possession in Fulton

FULTON – A Clinon, Iowa, man is in Whiteside County Jail on $50,000 bond after Fulton police said they found 7 or 8 grams of meth and a handgun in his car during a traffic stop Thursday in the 600 block of 15th Avenue.

William E.J. Kohl, 34, is charged with possession of 5 to 15 grams of methamphetamine and aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, each of which carries 3 to 7 years in prison; unlawful possession of a firearm and having a false or secret compartment in his vehicle, each of which carries 1 to 3 years, and unlawful display of a license plate, a misdemeanor.

He was arraigned Friday and has a preliminary hearing Monday in Whiteside County Court.
