Nassau officer, wife charged in casino robbery plot
CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a Nassau County police officer and his wife, who works at a Long Island casino, have been arrested on charges they conspired to rob a lucky gambler.
Officer Bruce Moeller and Christina Moeller, an employee at Jake’s 58 Hotel & Casino in Islandia, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to conspiracy.
Suffolk County prosecutors say Christina told her husband about a casino patron who’d won a lot of money. They say the husband came to the casino looking to rob the gambler but couldn’t find him.
Prosecutors say the pair also considered robbing an armored car at the casino.
The officer was suspended without pay. His attorney told Newsday they plan to strongly defend the allegations. Christina’s attorney said she has a clean record and has never been in trouble.
