Aiken Standard’s annual Spring Home and Garden Show is March 8-9

March 9, 2019

Residents with a personal passion for home building and renovation, as well as local gardening enthusiasts, are gearing up for the third annual Aiken Standard Spring Home and Garden Show in Aiken.

The Spring Home and Garden Show will take place Friday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, 1700 Whiskey Road, in gym number two.

Admission for the show will be a voluntary $1 fee, which will be donated to local nonprofit Nuture Home.

As spring quickly makes its way into Aiken County, the 2019 Spring Home and Garden Show will give homeowners the chance to come together in one location for two days, getting great advice and tips from local businesses located all over the area.

This year, the show will feature 72 booths, giving attendees plenty of options to decide who and what businesses they want to speak with and ask questions, said Diane Daniell, event coordinator for the Spring Home and Garden Show.

Vendors at the event will be showcasing their products and services, which includes landscaping, renovations, addition building, painting and cleaning gutters – just to name a few.

The spring show attendance has grown from year to year since it began in 2017.

The presenting sponsor for this year’s show is Hixon’s Roofing, located at 521 Silver Bluff Road in Aiken.

David Hixon, owner of Hixon’s Roofing, said he decided to become a sponsor for the event because the Home and Garden Show brings so many people from out of town into the area for the weekend.

“People will come from all over the state to come check out the show, and I figured being a sponsor would help with name recognition for those newcomers,” Hixon said.

Hixon Roofing has been a family owned and operated business in Aiken since 1984. Hixon’s father and brother both work with him, making the business a true family affair.

“People like hiring people who are trusted in the community and have been for years,” Hixon said. “Many of the roofs on homes here in Aiken were put there by Hixon Roofing, and that’s something I’m proud of.”

Hixon will have a booth set up during the two-day event with employees there to answer any questions attendees may have.
