Charges in Woburn against registered sex offender

September 13, 2014

WOBURN, Mass. (AP) — Police in Woburn have arrested a registered sex offender from Worcester on charges stemming from allegations that he stole a car with a 20-month-old girl inside the vehicle.

Authorities announced on Saturday that 36-year-old Victor Baez faces charges including kidnapping of a child and reckless endangerment of a child.

The parents reported that they were at Woburn District Court on Friday afternoon for a proceeding. They told police that they allowed a man they had known for a couple of days to watch their car, which had their daughter inside.

The parents said Baez, the vehicle and child were gone when they came back outside.

The vehicle was found about 45 minutes later.

Baez will be arraigned Monday. It wasn’t clear if he has a lawyer.
