September 17, 2013

O’FALLON, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say a southwestern Illinois woman was killed and her husband hospitalized after the couple were hit by a car while walking back to their car after attending a sporting event.

O’Fallon police Lt. James Cavins says the investigation continues into the Saturday morning wreck that killed 67-year-old Patricia Henggeler and injured her husband, 66-year-old William Henggeler.

Police say the couple was in a crosswalk after watching a grandchild play in a sporting event near O’Fallon Community Park when they were hit by the motorist’s Chrysler 300.

Police say the motorist stopped at the scene after the wreck and has been cooperating with investigators.

There’s no immediate word on any charges.
