Second Algerian Journalist Killed in Two Days
ALGIERS, Algeria (AP) _ A second Algerian newspaperman has been killed in two days, and Islamic insurgents are suspected.
Saida Djebaili, 27, was attacked Monday while riding in a car in the Algerian capital, his newspaper, El Hayat el Arabia, reported today.
The Algiers daily said Djebaili was shot numerous times in the head by men with automatic weapons. His driver also was reported killed.
The killing came a day after the death of Abdelwahad Sadaoui, 43, the commercial director of the newspaper ``Ec-Chaab.″
No one has claimed responsibility for the killings. But suspicion fell on Islamic insurgents who have targeted journalists suspected of supporting the military-backed government.
At least 30,000 people have died in the 3-year-old insurgency, 55 of them journalists.
